But even cold storage will not delay decay for long. Most exposed films need to be developed within 6 months of shooting. Any time after 6 months, your images are going to start to break down. Now, don’t get me wrong, this is a very slow process. Disposable cameras that are 2 years old won’t be that bad.
Multi Format. May 20, 2013. #3. The TMax will hold up very well and for a long time. Tri-X doesn't always age gracefully, and will start fogging pretty early on. Of course there are never any guarantees. I usually shoot fresh Tri-X at 200 in normal contrast; if I was forced to shoot expired Tri-X I'd probably shoot at 100 and develop as normal.
And yesterday I experienced the ultimate expression of expired film – Polaroid. It happened this way – I bought four rolls of expired 35mm film on eBay for the low price of $420. I was thrilled. Typically it takes 3-5 days for the film from a disposable camera to be developed. It can take as little as 2 hours for film to be developed but most developing labs will have around a 3-5 day turnaround.
The 110 cartridge was a single integrated unit which was easy to load and required no rewinding at the end of the roll. The frame size was 13x17mm – not all that dissimilar to the digital Micro 4/3rds format (13.5x18mm). Having recently borrowed a couple of 110 cameras, I decided to go about shooting, developing and scanning the film myself.
2. They smell bad. Smell is a clear indicator that will alert you to spoiled dates. These amber-colored fruits don’t have a strong smell, but you’ll likely notice a delicate and mild fragrance. If you detect a strong, off-putting, or rotten odor, take this as a sign that your dates have gone bad and it’s time to toss them.

For ECN-2, it flies the same way (even shorter!) plus an added complexity; our “beloved” rem-jet layer is also affected by the age of the film, becoming harder and harder to remove with every year passed. As a result, many cine labs do not process expired ECN-2 films because they risk the quality of their chemistry.
Check your rollers. At the bottom of the Polaroid film is the big white rectangle, this is where the chemicals are stored. If your rollers are dirty or glazed then they won't spread the emulsifier correctly and your prints won't come out. Open your camera with no film in it, and clean the rollers with rubbing alcohol, the stronger the better.
Developing it at this point may be challenging, as heat and humidity can cause the film to stick to the inside of the canister.
