Looking through some threads and posts, it seems there are more than a few that have broken the 300,000+ mileage barrier. I'm only at 360k miles on my 02 Golf TDI and it's still way too early to tell. The TDI engine has a 25,000 hour life rating. The standard conversion from hours to miles is 45 miles/hour.

I am working on compiling an extensive list of common MK6 TDI problems (Golf, Jetta and Jetta Sport Wagon). The goal of this is to make a video outlining potential issues and problem areas to look out for to help potential and existing owners. The 1.6 only has a 5 speed gearbox, which is fine around town but at 80mph the engine is spinning at about 2500rpm hence the mpg. The 2.0TDI has the 6 speed box which has higher top gear, and ends up doing similar mpg because the gearing is well suited to that engine. There will probably be a sensor giving incorrect info back to the ECU, possibly the coolant temp sensor.

Hi frank, there's a known issue for windows dropping on the mk6 golf, it's a software update on the central electrics control unit, Volkswagen released a tpi (technical product info) for this issue, if the problem isn't sorted already I would return to a vw dealer. Drained the tank and flushed out other bits. Replaced the lift pump and replaced the fuel. The vehicle still wouldn’t start. we took the fuel injectors out and high pressure pump out and sent them to a local Diesel specialist to get tested. The fuel pump came up ok and injector 3 and 4 was ok. Injector 1 and 2 got refurbished.
