Lots of bashing on the two premium coolers lol. I have a Noctua D15S and it's great. Inaudible most of the time. But the absolute key thing is that top quality fans - like Noctua, BeQuiet, and the Phanteks T30 120 etc, make a noise at full power that's much less annoying than cheaper fans.
Torn between these two coolers. Is the NH-D15 Worth it over the cheaper dark rock pro 4? My current CPU is ryzen 5 5500 which does not draw a lot of heat, but I do plan to upgrade to ryzen 7 5800x3d soon.
It's a beast of a cooler. Probably the best air cooler you can buy. Bear in mind that the 7700k is a very hot running CPU, so don't expect to hit 5ghz without having a bit of silicon luck, or the good old Intel delid procedure. Without it, temps @ 5ghz have been known to go into the 90's, with with a big unit like the NH-D15.
In my opinion NH-D15 is the best choice! -It's much quieter than aios,especially much quieter than 360mm aios! -It has the same performance or even outperforms the most of aios,even 360mm aios easily. -No risk of water dropping on the components. -No pump failure risk. -Much easier installation than aios.

The NH-D14 was a popular pick for PC builders, and the Noctua NH-D15 is a significant improvement on a design that was already fantastic to begin with. Noctua NH-D15 & 13700k (Is this the normal temps or did I seat it improperly?) I am getting around 30-38c idle, and 60-70s during gaming, but in Cinebench, within just a minute, I am getting three cores redlining at 100 and throttling, package temp at 100 after 2-3 minutes, and about 4-5 cores throttling. Also, the NH-D15 has more thermal mass than the Evo 212. This Noctua has better heat removal capacity, which is what you want from a cooling device. The 212 Evo is a budget cooler and has average stock speeds but falls short of the levels set by the NH-D15. The latter promises great and quiet performance.

The Noctua NH-D15 will fit, but only with the center fan. second fan will interfere with your RAM modules, as your RAM sticks require 40mm of clearance, and the fan only has 32mm. This review has the nh-d15 benchmarked against the h100i gtx, nepton 240, kraken x61, deep cool captain 240, thermaltake water 3 and it seems like the nh-d15 did pretty well. It's much quieter than all the closed loop coolers but loses against the kraken x61. Anybody here uses an NH-D15? Are they worth it?
Here's what I've observed with my 12 900 k running a NH-D15: CPU Temps: Ambient Room Temp 22°c - Stock voltage & clock settings. Idle = 30°c. Cyberpunk 2077 = 55°c. Looped 3DMark CPU Profile, "Max Threads" = 72°c. Cinebench R23 (Unlimited Power Limit) = Thermal throttles after ~90 seconds.
According to Noctua NSPR (The Noctua Standardised Performance Rating) both the cpu cooler have the same rating (129 NSPR). The difference between the two is that the Chromax have 5 pipe against the 4 of redux. Redux have a NF-P12 redux-1700 that perform better then NF-F12 (120,2 m³/h - 2,83 mm H2O vs 93,4 m³/h - 2,61 mm H2O).

There are many fins on the D15S and if its design is any indicator, the D15S is an effective cooling unit. A large 140mm Noctua NA-A15 PWM fan is clamped onto one side of the heatsink. An additional 120mm or 140mm fan can be installed on the other side but make sure it will fit in conjunction with your motherboard and RAM.
